Garlic: Garlic is used as a sinus infection home remedy either in a juice form or as a capsule. It is known to have anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties. The preparation is made by chopping garlic cloves and putting them into hot water. This water is poured into a bowl or bucket. The steam from the hot water is then inhaled with the eyes closed for a few minutes. You can do the inhaling by covering yourself with a cloth or towel over your head. This helps in draining the thick mucus effectively and you can blow the nose easily. This treatment can be carried out a few times a day so that it can beat the infection. NOTE: For this method to be safe you should not use water straight from the tap. You should make sure to use distilled water only.

Apple Cider Vinegar: Apple cider vinegar solution is also used as one of the sinus infection remedies. Apple cider vinegar is known to have potassium which reduces mucus production therefore alleviating symptoms of running nose and common colds. Using this type of home remedy gives immediate results within an hour or so of taking it. The preparation is made by adding about two table spoons of apple cider vinegar to a cup of warm water and then drinking the solution. You can choose to gulp the solution at once or take a few sips throughout the day. Whichever way the remedy is effective enough in fighting the infection. It can also be helpful if inhaled through the nose to aid in opening the nasal passage. Apple cider vinegar works because of the acetic acid that it contains. The acetic acid creates an acidic environment which prevents bacteria from growing.

Lemon Juice and Horseradish: Lemon juice can be used as one of the sinus infection home remedies in several ways. One way is to squeeze a freshly cut lemon into the nostrils. Lemon juice just like apple cider vinegar contains citric acid that prevents the growth of bacteria. Another way is to mix the lemon juice with one teaspoon of horseradish and eating the mixture.

Grapefruit Seed Extract: This is a citrus extract which has natural antibiotic properties that inhibit the microbes, bacteria, viruses and fungi. It can be used as a nasal spray to help eliminate symptoms of sinusitis. Grapefruits seed extract is one of the popular sinus infection home remedies that helps fight sinus infection.

Water and other Liquids: Other hot liquids such as chicken soup or tea can also provide relief. Drinking plenty fresh juice will also help in boosting the immune system so that it is able to fight sinus infection. Water is a fantastic and easily overlooked sinus infection home remedy that is readily available. It helps by thinning the excess mucus that result in sinus infection. Drinking plenty of water will help the body in balancing the immune system and flushing off any toxins that make the body susceptible to sinusitis infection. It is recommended to take at least eight glasses of water of about 8 oz so as to achieve a healthy body. Water can also be used by other means such as taking a hot shower and in the process inhaling the vapor. Other options include compressing a hot water bag or hot pad to keep warm and loosen the sinuses.

Honey: Honey is also a good curative sinus infection remedy. It is used by mixing with vinegar in a glass of water. You can then drink the solution to use it as one of the sinus infection remedies.

    You should never snort (or pour) tap water into your nose, it can be even more dangerous than a sinus infection because of the bacteria in the water! Very irresponsible of you to not note thy distilled water should be used!

      You are correct Mary. Thanks for pointing that out. I have edited the information the salt water remedy as to make sure that distilled water is used, as some tap water does indeed contain bad bacterias as you say.
