Cysts - Treatment Methods
A cyst is a closed sac which has a distinct separation from surrounding tissue. It may be filled with liquid, semi-solid matter or gas. They are found in people of all ages and can occur in any part of the human body. Their size varies from extremely minute to sizes large enough to displace tissue and organs. Its outer covering is called its capsule.
A cyst can be caused due to a number of factors including blockage of fluid flow, certain infections, hereditary conditions, inflammation etc. They may be found by simple palpation if located in accessible areas. If they are internal a MRI or CAT scan may have to be done.
