Pelvic Pain - Causes

People generally disregard whatever pains and aches that they’re feeling. Our dependence on pain killer and aspirins, especially that these can all be accessed over the counter, has encouraged this attitude. Pelvic pain is a perfect example of the pains that people do not take seriously. If this condition has become constant or even chronic, one needs to have a medical check-up.

POSSIBLE CAUSES OF ACUTE PAIN IN THE PELVIC AREA
Remember that any condition that is acute is a clear manifestation that you need to have yourself checked by a medical professional. There might be a possible infection in your body that’s causing you discomfort, resulting to pains in your pelvis. Kidney, vaginal and urinary tract infections are the most common ones. There are also diseases that may be the cause of this painful condition like STD’s, and pelvic inflammatory diseases. Those who are suffering from appendicitis would also feel a painful pressure in the pelvic area.

POSSIBLE CAUSES OF CHRONIC PAIN IN THE PELVIC AREA
A chronic pain in this part of the body may not be very alarming, especially for women who experience monthly menstrual cramps. Irritable bowel syndrome may also be a cause of the pressure. People who have also undergone surgery would normally feel pain in this area, which is just a side effect. Other causes may be psychological especially when the person has experienced genital and physical abuse.

PELVIC PAIN WHILST PREGNANT
This pain that women feel during pregnancy can be a cause for many things. If the woman is already feeling this condition even in the earlier stages of the pregnancy, she should get herself checked by her obstetrician-gynecologist. Pain in the pelvic area is one of the symptoms of ectopic pregnancy, in which the fetus develops outside the uterus. On the other hand, if the woman is feeling pains in this area at her last month of pregnancy, she doesn’t have to fret. This just means that her body is preparing for her child’s birth and the baby has already dropped into the pelvic area for labor.
