Hay Fever - Seasonal Allergies And Their Symptoms

Hay FeverSeasonal allergies (allergic rhinitis) are allergic reactions that can cause inflammation in the lining of the nose. They normally occur in certain seasons and the most common allergens involved are pollen from trees, flowers, grass and weeds. Seasonal allergy is also referred to as hay fever. However, this term is rarely used because allergies are not due to any cut hay but due to living trees, grasses, and weeds and normally the allergy does not lead to fever.

Mostly seasonal allergies are experienced by the people during spring season when pollination is on full swing, and there is lot of pollen grains all around in the air. Grasses, flowers, weeds and trees pollinate, and release pollen gains in the air. So during the entire spring season, air is full of pollen because different species of grasses and trees pollinate at different times. For instance, when some weeds have finished the pollination process, some trees may start and so there is no time when air is free from pollen gains.

If you continuously expose yourself to air filled with pollen, you may experience many seasonal allergy symptoms. The most common symptom of this allergy is itchy eyes that are red and watery. This is a firm indication that pollination season has actually arrived. Many people suffering from allergies may experience tickle at the roof of their mouth or at the throat. This can be quite irritating and may cause funny feel inside the mouth, which is not at all comfortable. Mostly, these seasonal allergy symptoms will lead to runny nose and is also accompanied by sneezing. By this time, there is even more pollen all around in the air.

In some people runny nose might even lead to wheezing and coughing. Most of them may feel congestion in their lungs and in most of the cases, coughing may lead to severe headaches. Aside from these symptoms, you may also experience sleeplessness due to some change in your body status, and you will also experience intense pain in your body. Some people also report impaired sense of taste or smell. The inner eyelids and white of the eye might also be inflamed if conditions turn serious. This is referred to as allergic conjunctivitis.

There are several ways to reduce allergens. We’re not discussing antihistamines here because they only suppress the seasonal allergy symptoms and do nothing to heal the real problem. Although some people might take antihistamine, but many natural remedies are much better and can heal the problem thereby providing relief to the suffering person. Therefore, you should try natural remedies as they come without any side effects and are quite cheap as compared to the regular medications.
