What To Eat on a GERD Diet

GERDGERD, or Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease, is a medical term for acid reflux. Acid relux occurs when acid from the stomach travels back up to the esophagus. Vegetables are essential when you are on a GERD diet. You will get the best outcomes with green vegetables. Reduce your intake of tomatoes, broccoli, and cabbage. Baked potatoes and carrots do not usually cause acid reflux symptoms.


You do not have to give up eating meat. It just has to be cooked differently. Replace frying for baking and grilling and limit the amount of seasonings you use. Fish, salmon, and chicken are safe for acid reflux. Remove the skin from chicken.

For desserts, excessive chocolate should be avoided because it can trigger heartburn. Eat chocolate early in the day to reduce your chances of acid reflux. Try to gratify your sweet tooth with gelatins and whipped cream or sugar-free cookies.
