Homeopathic or Home Remedies?

Differentiating Between the Two

When a person becomes ill, the traditional practice is for this person to visit a doctor, to get himself diagnosed, treated and brought to good health.

Unfortunately, if a professional is out of reach or professional care is too costly or perhaps contrasting to one’s belief, alternative methods have to be made available.

Home Remedies

Over-the-counter medicines are not only costly, but since they are made from chemicals, they can cause untoward effects to the body. The side effects caused by medications are often too drastic, that many people stay away from them, as much as they can. Good substitutes for harmful medications prescribed by doctors are made of natural materials, and they are termed “home remedies”. It is given this name because the cures are often made up of materials or items found the home, such as spices, vegetables and other common products.

Much of the remedies used today date from ancestors of yester years. These cures have become traditional methods, passed on from one person to another.

Mortar+home+remedy

Here are some common examples of home remedies:

If you are suffering from acidity, due to high consumption of spicy foods or alcohol, one home remedy you can try is boil a teaspoon of caraway seeds in 1 ½ of water and to take this concoction from 2 to 5 times a day, until relief is achieved.
If you are suffering from a bad case of acne or want to know how to get rid of blackheads, you can dab lime juice on the pimples and the blackheads, or apply ground curry leaves in paste form, on your face, on a daily basis.

Homeopathic Remedies

Homeopathy is ancient Greek derivations from the words “homois” and “pathos” which means similar and suffering, respectively. Contrary to traditional medicine it makes use of plants and minerals; and compared to home remedies, they make use of purely natural substances, and not necessarily products that are readily available; but just like home remedies, they are low cost, and widely used.

According to Dr. Hans Reinrich Recheweg, these remedies are chosen to specifically match the symptom patterns or the profiles of the illnesses, and he bases this discipline on three principles that state: “like cures like:, “the more the remedy is diluted, the greater its potency” and “an illness is specific to the individual”.

To explain these three principles better, read this:Like cures like: If a patient was turned in with a case of mercury poisoning, the likely cure for the ailment should incorporate the use of mercury.
The more the remedy is diluted, the greater its potency: Most cures following this science is made taken in its lowest dosage form because one part of the remedy is diluted in about 1,000,000,000,000 parts of water.

An illness is specific to the individual: It does not matter how many symptoms a manifests, in a single examination. Only one remedy is given to treat it, because this specific remedy is designed to target all symptoms.

Homeopathic remedies are preferred for many reasons. They are effective, they are natural, they’re non-addictive and they are holistic. More so, the followers of this discipline believe that every treatment under homeopathy is given in accordance to the true nature of your body, and will so work in perfect harmony to reach a cure.

The World Health Organization defines health not merely as the absence of disease, but rather the complete state of physical, mental and social well-being. That being said, the true declaration of one’ health is not one that is easily made, but it is important. Since professionals are not always available to come to the rescue, alternative modes of

treatment have to be made available for everyone, through home remedies and homeopathic remedies.
