Chromotherapy - The Color Therapy to Heal

Chromotherapy, commonly known as color therapy or colorology is about drawing the positive powers of colors to balance the energy centers of the body. Imbalance in the energy center manifests disease. Diseases of various degrees from an emotional level to spiritual level are treated with this method.

The majority of the ancient and holistic medications focus on treating the ailments by inducing power and energy to balance the body. Chromotherapy follows the same principle. The colors are used to substitute or reinstate the lack of energy. The colors enhance the energy to treat physical, mental, spiritual and emotional health.

History and origin of color therapy can be dated back to the Vedic period in India. The holy book of Hindus, Vedas has the inscriptions about healing and balancing the chakras of body with colors. Additionally, the origin of it can also be traced in the history of Ancient Greece. Authentic references about the effectiveness of color therapy is mentioned in the Ayurveda, where the spectrum of rays from the Sun referred as the major source of this complementary medication.

The entire spectrum of colors is obtained from the sunlight. Each color vibrates in a different way with different frequency. Each color has its power and influence on the behavior of a person. For instance, red is the most powerful color, orange influences the emotional quotient; pink is mild and soothing, where green is a refreshing color.

Energy centers, the seven chakras are associated with seven different colors of the rainbow. Similarly, each color is associated with certain parts of the body. For instance, green is associated with heart, reflecting the sense of responsibility. Indigo is associated just above the center of the eye brows, reflecting the sense of understanding, forgiveness, etc.

Some of the tools used in color therapy include gems, lamps, candles, crystals, fabrics, lasers, glass prisms, etc. Combination of color lights is applied to regulate the energy levels in the areas that lacks in vibrance.

Although color therapy is termed as pseudoscience, it is a proven complimentary medication. It is a true holistic therapy with profound healing effect on the illnesses.
