How To Have Healthy Hair
Summer is finally getting started and now is the perfect time to start thinking about some nice summer fashions, a new hair style and maybe a vacation or two. But before we get ahead of ourselves, all of this delicious sunshine can also take its toll.
In particular, during the summer months you should pay extra attention to your hair – after all, that’s what gets most of the direct sunlight. Nothing ruins a summer look than tired or damaged hair…
Here then are some tips to keep your hair healthy and beautiful this summer:
Get the Right Diet
A good healthy diet affects every part of your body in ways you might not even know, and your hair is one area that matters the most. Long, hot and sunny days can bleach your hair and dry it out, so a little extra nutrition is especially important.
Make sure you get the right vitamins for hair growth. Eating plenty of iron and vitamin C will
help your hair grow healthily, fruit and eggs are best, and these can easily be worked into a low calorie diet if you happen to also be trying to lose weight.
Get the Right Cut
Having your hair trimmed won’t actually make it healthy, but the start of summer is still the ideal time to re-think your style. Getting rid of split ends and getting your style sorted is a great way to get yourself in that summer mood.
My recommendation is to avoid longer fringes or any style that might result in hair getting in your eyes. Also a shorter style is ideal if you are planning to be out and about a lot and need something practical.
Keep Healthy
Finally, since you’ve put all of that work into getting your hair as healthy as can be, and you’ve had the perfect trim to go with – you’ll want to make sure it stays in tip top condition.
Try to avoid over doing it with blow drying or straightening – these are okay occasionally, but straightening your hair every day will dry it out and can make it brittle. Natural hair just feels better.
Blow drying is hard to avoid I’ll admit, but if you can keep your dryers at a lower heat and take more time over it you’ll get the benefit.
Summary
Looking after your hair isn’t exactly rocket science, it’s just a case of avoiding those things that will damage your hair – you already know what they are. And if you are spending a lot of time in the sun, or swimming or whatever, try using a protective leave-in conditioner to help protect it.
